Our speaker is Thomas C. Asher C.S. of Sacramento, California. Tom graduated from the University of Southern California with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. During college he assisted Christian Science chaplains in two prison facilities, received class instruction from Elizabeth Bice Luerssen, C.S.B., of Los Angeles, California, and was active in his college organization.
After college, Tom entered The Mother Church’s chaplain training program. As part of this program, he graduated from Andover-Newton Theological School with a master’s degree. He served as a Christian Science chaplain in the United States Air Force until 1981 when he became a Journal listed practitioner and entered the full time healing ministry.
He has served his branch church in many capacities including two terms as First Reader. He particularly loves teaching in Sunday School. Over the last thirty years he has addressed many different Christian Science associations and has had a number of articles published in the Christian Science periodicals.
Tom and his wife, Beverlee, have two grown sons. In his free time he enjoys reading, gardening, playing tennis and basketball.
